Barry Dick Bsc (Hons) MBA MW

Barry combines almost 15 years of experience in winemaking and buying with the prestigious Masters of Wine qualification.

His career in wine began when he studied a BSc (Hons) in Food Science. He soon developed a passion for wine, a passion which took him to Australia where he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Oenology at the esteemed University of Adelaide. Having spent five years as a Flying Winemaker, working everywhere from McLaren Vale for Gemtree Wines in Australia to Jacques Lurton in the Languedoc Region of France.

Barry's scientific knowledge of wine is complemented by his extensive business insight. Completing an MBA in European Food Marketing in Paris. It was this combination of skills that led to him managing the Quality and Sourcing of Sainsbury's awarding winning Own Brand wine range.

Later he undertook the Masters of Wine, passing the qualification in 2013.

Barry’s preferred area of application is using this combination of winemaking and wine business skills to allow him to refine a wine, the brand it is representing and how the company selling it interfaces in a market place. This skill set is of particular interest to brand developers and investment groups wishing to improve the market relevance of their brands and organisations.

He has worked with some of the biggest brands in the business; Hardys and Kumala, major UK retailers such as Morrison's, and Sainsbury's, as well as wine agencies, importers and the on-trade wine sector.
